| Description | Hypsizygus marmoreus (white beech mushroom) also known as bunashimeji and hon-shimeji, is an industrialized edible mushroom that is widely cultivated in East Asia. It serves as a useful model to study developmental process such as morphogenesis of non-model mushrooms. Hypsizygus marmoreus is associated with multiple medicinal properties. It is linked with reducing triglycerides concentration and also with showing anti-atherosclerotic properties in model organisms. Certain compounds such as ergosterol, proteins and polysaccharides derived from Hypsizygus marmoreus have been shown to inhibit inflammatory processes and have antitumor and antioxidant capacities. |
